Anambra Governor Sets 52-Week Target to Complete 14-Year-Old Project
Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has officially flagged off the revival and completion of the abandoned Nnewi Shopping Mall at Nkwo Nnewi Triangle, ending 14 years of abandonment.
The Governor, during a handover ceremony, formally transferred the site to the contractor ZTC with a firm directive to deliver the project within 52 weeks.
The multi-million-naira shopping complex, which has remained uncompleted at the heart of Nnewi’s commercial hub, was described by the Governor as an unacceptable waste of public resources. He noted that the facility, abandoned for nearly two decades, will be restored to productive use to drive commerce.
The revival of the mall is a key component of the Soludo administration’s Urban Renewal Masterplan for Nnewi, which also includes modern bus terminal, recreational centre, and reclamation of dormant public assets.
