A Reflection on Progress, Community Development, and the Future of Nnewi Business
“I am handing over the leadership of the Nnewi Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture with deep sense of accomplishment. The period, 2024 – 2026, was a learning process, challenges, collaboration and most importantly meaningful development.”
Chief Sir Moses Ezukwo, Ugwummadu Nnewi delivered his epoch valedictory address at the Classic Munich Hotel Nnewi during the 12th Investiture Ceremony of the new NCCIMA President, Pastor (Mrs) Patricia Uchema Chukwu, the first female president of the chamber.
Recalling that leadership is a responsibility to serve members as well as promote business community, Sir Ezukwo expressed satisfaction on the achievements of his initiatives during the two years in office.
He mentioned the establishment of the Board of Trustees (BOT) as key framework to enhance a strong foundation for NCCIMA growth and business interest. He also organized Nnewi Economic Summit that brought together business leaders and traders from different aspects of life.
In his words, “The Summit was a huge benefit because it reminded us that when we come together, share ideas and create opportunities for one another, we can achieve much more.”
Ezukwo’s administration opened door for proper enlightenment on Tax Reform Programme (TRP), where members and other business community interacted directly with the tax officials. “This engagement helped to create greater awareness and understanding between the tax authorities and the business community.”
He promoted Igbo Apprenticeship programme, an initiative very significant with the native culture and heritage of Ndigbo. It was a veritable window for business stakeholders cut across the masters, chiefs, obis, parents and business owners for fertilization of ideas and thoughts.
He appreciated the Executive Council of NCCIMA, and its partners for their trust, commitment and priceless contributions towards the administration success story.
“I also recognise and appreciate our traditional rulers, community and business leaders, government agencies, tax officials and all who supported our administration.”
He believes that leadership is temporary, but institutions are permanent, therefore, the incoming regime is expected to enjoy similar cooperation and support towards moving NCCIMA forward.
“Let us continue to work together to promote trade, investment, industry, agriculture and entrepreneurship in Nnewi, let us continue to support our businesses, empower our young people, preserve our heritage and create an environment where economic peace can thrive. I hereby hand over the leadership of this chamber with clear conscience and a heart full of gratitude.”
